We are going back!

A year has passed since our wedding. It amazes me how time has flown by since it still feels like we were just finalizing details and preparing for that day. It’s a bittersweet feeling but I am so humbled and blessed to have been able to experience our magical day with my husband (of course!) and our loved ones. Our honeymoon to Italy was another experience of a lifetime.Ever since returning home, we constantly talked about our time there and what we would want to do if we are able to go back. Our hearts were enchanted and we knew would need to return sooner or later. We discussed what we would want to do to celebrate our one year anniversary and bounced ideas back and forth. We ultimately stopped beating around the bush and discussed how we both would truly enjoy celebrating our anniversary.  There was no other answer than going back to Italy! We talked about finances and who could take care of our fur babies. Essentially we were trying to come up with excuses to not go and trying to talk ourselves out of it. But you know what? Screw it! We only live once and never know when there will be another opportunity to do what we want to do. We both knew we wanted to celebrate our anniversary in the place that made such an impact in our lives and facilitated an amazing experience to kick off our married life.

So here we are. Flights are booked, essentials are gathered and the hotel is set. We actually booked the same hotel (Palazzo Cardinal Cesi) and once I informed them we were returning they guaranteed the room we stayed in during our honeymoon. I am excited to be returning to Rome in a matter of days. I can’t wait to walk on the cobblestone streets and drink from ancient fountains again. I look forward to eating simple yet delicious food and getting a kick from the strongest espresso I ever drank. Of course, I look forward to sampling more wine than I did before and will be sure to bring bottles back this time. The thought of hearing sirens blasting and Italian banter in the early mornings brings a smile to my face. As we did not book any tours, we want to explore different places like Tuscany and the Almafi Coast at our own pace. The most important part of this new adventure is that I will be sharing this experience with my husband.

As I’ve stated previously, we often do not do what we desire because we are worried about the future or the things that always need tending to.It’s important to not live in the “what if” and the “if only” since life is too short and tomorrow is not guaranteed. Live in the moment and cherish every second of it!
